PETITION to stop the Sarnia Jail Closure |
The McGuinty government is looking to close the "old and underutilized" Sarnia Jail. Our jail is anything but "old and underutilized". Closing the jail will not save the province any money, and will only end up costing our community more to transport prisoners from Windsor to Sarnia.
Please sign my petition, and mail the original copy to my Queen's Park office. |

Public Access Defibrillators |
In recent years technological advancements have made Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) an important addition to public buildings and many busy meeting places. Often found in arenas, schools, shopping centres and public buildings PADs can provide critical, life-saving assistance during a medical emergency in the moments prior to Emergency Medical Services arriving on scene. However, as easy as modern PADs are to use, they still require regular maintenance and understanding to be an effective life saving tool. If your business, workplace or community gathering place has or is considering getting a PAD it is important that you make the necessary arrangements to educate yourself on use and maintenance.
If you would like more information about PADs or would like to set up an appointment to have your PAD inspected please contact Mr. Jon Cann, Operations Supervisor at the County of Lambton Emergency Medical Services Department at 519-344-9469.
Please take a moment to click on the link below and learn about using the Public Access Defibrillator in your community. |

MPP Bailey's Freedom of Information Request Re: Sarnia Jail Closure |
On Friday November 18, 2011, Sarnia-Lambton MPP, Bob Bailey, presented the Freedom of Information (FOI) Request regarding the McGuinty Government’s decision to close the Sarnia Jail, which he received on November 16th.
On April 26, 2011 MPP Bailey filed his FOI request with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) seeking documents concerning the announced closure of the Sarnia Jail. On July 21 2011, MPP Bailey promptly paid the $833.55 demanded by the Ministry to complete the request.
Despite having carefully followed Ministry protocol, the results of the FOI request were repeatedly delayed by officials within the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Services branch at the MCSCS. In October, after officials refused to offer an updated timeline or expected delivery date for any materials related to the Sarnia Jail FOI request, MPP Bailey contacted the provincial Ombudsman, André Marin, and Information and Privacy Commissioner, Dr. Anne Cavoukian, to investigate the government’s refusal to release the information. |
