MPP, Bailey : Ontarians Need Accessibility to H1N1 Vaccine
November 02, 2009
Queen's Park-Bob Bailey, MPP for Sarnia-Lambton is greatly concerned for the people of Ontario and their health and safety. The H1N1 vaccinations are being handed out at a glacial pace and many Ontarians aren't able to receive the potentially life-saving vaccine.
"Locally however, I am proud to say that the County of Lambton Community Health Services quickly reacted to address the wait times by establishing additional clinics throughout the county and recruiting additional staff," said Bailey. "Earlier this week the wait times were in excess of three hours but according to Chad Ikert Manager of our Community Health Services they have quickly addressed the issue and have now reduced that to one hour" "The unit has now establised a clinic on Saturday at the Bayside Mall to decrease the wait times locally for which I commend them."
According to Mr. Ikert the Ministry of Health is very concerned that they may experience a shortage in the vaccine and has now pushed back the availability to the general public to mid November to ensure all high risk and health care workers receive the vaccine.
