Queen's Park-Bob Bailey, MPP for Sarnia-Lambton was disappointed today that the McGuinty Government has introduced legislation that, if passed, will make the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) law.
"Since the last budget we have heard loud and clear from all over the Province that the HST will kill jobs," said Bailey. "The McGuinty Government is still pushing ahead with this tax grab despite knowing it is wrong for the economy."
Bailey reacted to the introduction of legislation that, if passed, will implement a series of tax reforms that were announced in previous budgets. Among the items included in this bill is the HST.
"The last thing the Government should be doing during a recession is increasing taxes", added Bailey. "This Government will not only be able to take credit for increasing the costs of everything from funerals to fuel but they can also take credit for running up the largest deficit in Ontario's history."
"This Government has no plan for the economy at all. If they did they would not be moving ahead with this job killing tax."
