There is a new tax which will make it more expensive for families to afford sports like hockey, figure skating, baseball and soccer.
Recreational facility rental fees at ice rinks, baseball diamonds and soccer fields will increase by 8% when the HST or the 'Dalton Sales Tax' (DST) comes into effect next summer.
Minor sports associations will have to cover the extra operating costs, forcing many of them to pass the costs on to parents. For a family with two, three or more kids playing, the new tax hike will be prohibitive. The DST will also apply to the gas used driving to and from the arena, the coffee and snack bought during the game, and the internet service used to check schedules and standings online. This tax grab will be simply unaffordable for many families.
There are three ways you can help stop Dalton's Sales Tax grab:
- Click here to sign the petition to Stop the DST on Hockey and Minor Sports.
- Forward this message to your friends and family by clicking the "Forward To A Friend" button.
- Print and circulate the petition that will be read in the Ontario Legislature by the Ontario PC Caucus by clicking the "Download Petition" button.
Dalton McGuinty has stuck his hand into the pocket of taxpayers deep enough and his latest tax grab needs to be stopped and we need your help. For more information, visit www.bobbaileympp.com.
